He knew his life was over.
The prison doors had flung wide open, and every prisoner was suddenly free. No warning. No human explanation. Just freedom — uncontainable, undeniable, impossible.
The jailer knew what this meant: execution. He would be held responsible. The king would demand his head. He had no excuse, no backup plan, no second chance.
So, in his desperation, he reached for his sword to end his own life.
A man who had been working hard to feed his family…
